Je me régale

Quand Tony Gebely a publié sa liste des livres remarquables en 2017, j'ai eu du mal à dénicher 
                THE WORLD TEA ENCYCLOPAEDIA

mais il a été livré le 4 janvier et un coup d'oeil a suffi pour confirmer ce qu'annonçait Tony:

before a series of chapters from major producing regions, and also some not so major producing regions like Laos, Myanmar, New Zealand, Australia, the United States, and several countries in Europe!

C'est un pavé de 3 livres (1,3 kg), 400 pages de papier glacé,

  68% sont consacrées aux pays producteurs et j'en ai trouvé qui n'apparaissent pas dans ma carte, comme la Suisse! La Tea Farm (maintenant Westholme) de Colombie-britannique est absente mais elle n'avait encore que 800 théiers à l'hiver 2017. 
L'auteur annonce dans son introduction que le thé est le héros de ce livre et C'EST VRAI: aucune tisane, nulle part. Ai-je besoin de continuer à vanter ce livre?

J'ai arrêté la rédaction de ce billet le 2 février... et l'ai apparemment "mis en attente" indéfinie. J'y reviens après qu'une recherche avec "tea" sur le site d'une librairie locale (et francophone mais "thé" donne un fouillis de résultats comme théâtre et cathédrale, quand ce n'est pas l'article anglais the qui domine) m'ait fourni 6 pages de livres par Téa Stilton, j'ai bifurqué sur "Jane Pettigrew", une valeur sûre de me mener à la section "Café, thé, chocolat". Le premier résultat est un livre à paraître bientôt, en anglais... je file sur Amz qui continue à ne pas afficher grand chose dans tea+book "coming soon" mais qui offre pourtant ce fameux livre quand je cherche JP, à paraître le 15 juin. Clic+clic dans le cerveau. Clic, clic sur le clavier: le lancement aura lieu à la World Tea Expo le 13 juin et ce livre n'est pas nommé pour un prix cette année:

J'ai pré-commandé le livre de Pettigrew.

The book’s 434 pages are sectioned into seven chapters. The first covers the origins of tea—where it first grew, the plant’s characteristics and subspecies, as well as tea harvesting and manufacturing and details about tea-producing regions.

Subsequent chapters focus on continents. Chapter Two covers North America. Chapter Three covers Central and South America and the growers of Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Colombia. Chapter Four covers Africa, and not only the commonly known growers of Kenya, Malawi and Uganda, but also the new growers in Togo, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Reunion Islands and Madagascar. Chapter Five goes into Europe’s tea gardens in the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Georgia and Eastern Europe, Russia and Turkey. Chapter Six, the largest chapter, focuses on Asia and encompasses the countries of China, India, South Korea, Japan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Bhutan, Nepal, Tibet, Cambodia and more. The Seventh and final chapter features countries of Oceania: Papua New Guinea, Australia and New Zealand.
