C'est parti

The last chest had just been secured when Butler emerged from the bungalow carrying a couple of large leather bags. He threw them on the leading wagon.

« I’ll be sixty days at sea, then I’ve got two weeks in England to arrange the sale at auction and to telegraph the money. »

« Fifth of September, » he said curtly. « If I haven’t sold this lot by then you can say hello for me to the man from the bank when he comes to seize the estate, » and he turned to the driver.

« Twenty-five tons, » repeated Captain Bentinck in disgust and shook his head.
